Denise Emmerling-Baker has had over 30 years experience as a professional acrylic, water color and sketch artist, as well as former co-owner of the international faux and mural painting company (formerly known as Emmerling Studios), now Philip Emmerling Studio, and her time working on the city of Milwaukie Arts Committe, assisting with planning and staffing events, curating shows and creating social media for events.
Denise has taught painting classes in the US and Australia. She has worked with a plethora of new and experienced artists to guide them toward a joint creation of a mural, faux painted surface, and collage. She is fortunate to know and have collaborated with, curated, and invited many talented artists to work on projects with which she is involved.
Her time as an educator and professor help her to navigate working with teams of people with varying degrees of artistic experience and confidence, so that each can create something they are proud of while also digging deeper into a conversation about diversity, equity and inclusion.
Past Group projects with organizational staff include: an outdoor mural, indoor murals with individual collage, indoor murals, indoor Faux Painting (Wall glazing), Out door marbelizing of columns, separate creation of pages for a joint book.
Past Individual art projects combined with equity learning include: guided acrylic painting, guided drawing, sensory poetry writing, collage art, An public event and art show combining and internationally famous artist visiting from China with a local high school Arts Department.
